I owe the blog quite a few posts, but I’m jumping in with this one (while the broadband is working) about the beautiful present I bought for my ‘Craft Room’.
I’ve been a reader of Amanda’s blog for a while now, and admire her so much – both her creative gifts and her personal strength to deal with some unpleasant things she’s gone through. When I saw the Mad March Hares she had put in her new Etsy shop I had to have a closer look… and then I had to have one for myself!
I see many lovely creations on Etsy, but I’ve never actually bought anything till now. The trouble is that hand-made mostly equals expensive. Which is right if the crafter is going to charge realistically for their time as well as materials… but it puts most things beyond my reach. Amanda’s hares are incredibly reasonably priced ($17 or £11 including P&P), so snap one up while you can!
Snow White intercepted the parcel when it popped through the letterbox. She was very taken with the moss green velvet ribbon:
Then she applied herself to the pink tissue paper:
I was feeling impatient with the toddler-speed unwrapping:
But then the reward of meeting “Lucia”! (who is staying well away from inquisitive little fingers now):
Lucia is based on super-soft felted wool that is so stroke-able, and features delicate details of embroidery, trim and embellishments. She is lovingly and painstakingly crafted.
She is destined to decorate my Craft Room (when once I have made it organised enough to have a place to display her.) I have at last cleared out many of the boxes that were filling it since the move, and even used the sewing machine yesterday! Only to patch the knees of my jeans, so nothing very glamorous yet, but we’ll get there. And now I have Lucia to help inspire the prettying up!
Many thanks Amanda for my gorgeous Lucia, I hope your Etsy shop will bring you lots of custom and help fund more creative exploits in the future!
By the way, this is not a sponsored post or anything, I’m just really, really pleased with my purchase and want to spread the word!

Yay! You are back. xx
Oh my word! xxxx
